A little about me...

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST. It is an honor to introduce myself. I am an author, speaker, life coach, yoga instructor, and mental health professional. I was born in North Carolina and grew up in Hawaii. My approach is largely informed by over 18 years of personal inquiry, deepening spiritually including meditation and prayer, yoga, and thousands of hours of post graduate clinical training in the mental health field. My dynamic coaching weaves together strengths-based and solutions-focused models, with positive practical spirituality and the principles of attitudinal healing. Where it is appropriate, I creatively integrate gentle yoga, guided imagery, journal writing, art, meditation, prayer, and affirmations with my love of Hawaii to give clients an exceptional coaching experience. With a strong assessment process, curious questioning, and moment to moment awareness, I help my clients become centered, grounded, motivated and able to embrace changes. I help clients take steps to reveal more joy, aliveness, well-being and creativity. I help people to open, let go, forgive and appreciate. With a warm approach and clarity of spirit, I encourage and motivate clients to rise up to living their truth. I help clients navigate their internal world so they are able to re-structure their thinking and make better choices in life. It is an honor to watch them attain their life goals and to live their legacy.

Guided by Dr. Reverend Patricia Keel I became a Unity Prayer Chaplain at Unity of Berkeley. I led the annual World Prayer Day and World Meditation Day events for four years at Unity in Berkeley. It has been a great joy to give inspirational Sunday Service talks at both Unity of Berkeley and at Windward Unity on the island of Oahu. I've lead workshops at Kailua Unity and meditation at Unity of Walnut Creek. I credit my spiritual awareness to the Unity New Thought teachings, Buddhism, The Tao, Yoga, A Course In Miracles, and Hawaiiana.

My coaching style is a combination of instructing, inspiring, motivating, and transcending. The teaching is not like traditional life coaching, which is an unregulated practice. The teaching is not psycho dynamic, a type of formal psychology that takes you into the past to analyze family patterns. I help clients focus on today, and move forward working from a powerful framework that is spiritually enriched and solutions focused. Combining over 18 years as a strengths-based clinical social worker working with people from all walks of life with my deep commitment to positive spirituality and my love of Hawaii, I help clients manage change and decrease stress so they can live on purpose and with passion. I have studied a number of master teachers and enlightened beings and have carefully integrated these into a compelling format of my own.

I earned my BA degree in Sociology from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and my Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. I am registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW 37224). I also earned my license to practice in Hawaii (LMSW). With over eighteen years of experience as a professional mental health provider helping people from all socio-economic backgrounds, I've worked in legal, non-profit, educational, private practice therapy offices and in medical settings. I have performed individual, couples, and group therapy. However I am not a licensed psychotherapist. My practice takes more of a educational, spiritual, and life coaching approach guiding clients to consciously live their purpose in life, helping them achieve their life goals, and attaining greater peace.

It is a pleasure to share that I have authored a non-fiction book titled Deep, Blue, Heavenly Seas...a retreat for your soul: 25 Hawaiian-Inspired Spiritual Practices to Help You Live Your Life and Leave Your Legacy. This is a self-help book for those who are spiritually aware, or spiritually curious, and who desire to live a meaningful life, on purpose, and with passion.

In addition to writing, teaching, and growing my coaching practice, I work for a large, successful medical organization in the San Francisco Bay Area. I love to serve patients with complex medical needs and I am also a certified life care planning facilitator often having the most challenging talks with patients about disease trajectory and planning for the end of life. I have trained clinicians, at all levels, on issues ranging from “Domestic Violence,” and “Practicing Healthy Boundaries,” to “Spirituality in Healthcare,” and “Effective Patient Communication." In this setting I have been awarded the Medical Social Worker III status for "exemplary social work." In the same setting I am also a founding member of the Social Workers Professional Development Group.

Lastly, I am a former director of the Center Programs at CorStone (formerly The International Center for Attitudinal Healing, started by Gerald Jampolsky, M.D.) in Sausalito, CA. And I return to Hawaii regularly to reconnect with the 'aina (land) and with my dear ohana (family) friends.
